Minus18 is an organisation driven purely by a team of motivated young people aged between 14 and 21 who want to provide a completely safe zone for other youth in the GLBTIQ community. To be a part of Minus18, you’ve got to be a team player, have ambition to improve the lives of other queer young people, and most of all, you gotta be passionate about our events.

 

There are tons of ways you can become involved in Minus18 and help out the cause. Here are just a few ways:

Minus18 Contributor Anyone can lend Minus18 a hand by contributing to our website and other Minus18 Media. Send us your stories, articles, interviews, or even just ideas. They all help make this an awesome place.

Minus18 Volunteer Minus18 volunteers lend a hand at our Dance party events. They help set up the venue, organise cloak room and work together with the Minus18 committee members to produce fantastic events. Volunteers get to see how Minus18 is run, have an awesome time at our events, and make friends with the rest of the Committee. Volunteers aren’t exclusive to our dance parties though – from time to time Minus18 run other projects. If you have an idea for a project, or would like to be involved in one, then apply!

Minus18 Volunteer (Specialist) Minus18 Specialists are young people with extraordinary talent or interests in certain fields that help make Minus18 completely kickarse. It could be anything from studying photography in school, or knowing a thing or two about web design. Some other specialist areas are Video Recording, Graphic Design, Sound and Lighting, and Transport (have a car/license). If you have a skill that you think Minus18 could use, let us know!

Minus18 Committee Member Minus18 Committee Members are the ones who get to make all the decisions. The committee meets each month and discusses upcoming events, ways to improve minus18, and ideas for new events and projects. Committee Members are passionate about Minus18, and want to continue improving events. We encourage anyone who’s interested to apply – we believe it’s extremely important to have a diverse range of people on the committee at all times.
