JOB: Manager (Business & Outreach)

The Manager (Business and Outreach) is responsible for driving future growth through the leadership of the existing LGBTIQ Outreach Team, and the organisation more broadly when needed. The Outreach Team has recently undergone a period of strong growth fostering Minus18’s connection to schools, businesses and broader community, and is responsible for implementing LGBTIQ inclusion workshops and driving, sales, fundraising and partnership revenue.

  • Salary $70,000 p.a. + Generous Salary Packaging + SUPER -- (Total package = $83,035 equivalent)

Minus18 is Australia’s youth driven charity for LGBTIQ young people. We support LGBTIQ youth through events and online support, and provide fee for service LGBTIQ Inclusion workshops to schools, businesses and community organisations. Since 1998 we have supported more than 50,000 young people at events across Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Manager (Business and Outreach) is responsible for driving future growth through the leadership of the existing LGBTIQ Outreach Team, and the organisation more broadly when needed. The Outreach Team has recently undergone a period of strong growth fostering Minus18’s connection to schools, businesses and broader community, and is responsible for implementing LGBTIQ inclusion workshops and driving, sales, fundraising and partnership revenue.

In 2018 the Outreach Team has two main areas of focus:

  1. We’re looking to increase our community connection even further and the Manager (Business and Outreach) will oversee this growth by reviewing our existing workshop sales processes and developing a business growth strategy to implement. 
  2. The Outreach Team will also be implementing a new fundraising platform designed to engage corporates and business to financially support LGBTIQ youth. The Manager (Business and Outreach) will provide support and advice to this initiative. 

This position will also work closely with the CEO and the Board on people management, strategy, and deputise the CEO where necessary. We welcome ambitious applicants seeking a trajectory into CEO responsibilities, so the person in this position will need to be an exceptional and inspiring coach to others, fantastic with both broad vision and finer details, and drive the high-energy youth culture of the organisation. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Develop, implement and coordinate strategic and business plans in the areas of workshop sales, corporate partnerships and individual fundraising.
  2. Lead the acquisition and retention of sales and fundraising relationships with schools, government and businesses.
  3. Build a strong commercial focus while staying true to the organisations values and mission.
  4. Manage and meet budgets relating to the Outreach Team.
  5. Lead the Outreach Team in a way that inspires connection and achieves results with open and well communicated goals.
  6. Review current systems, share best practice and implement improvements relating to sales and fundraising processes.
  7. Produce reports and provide advice to the CEO and the Minus18 Board on areas of responsibility.
  8. Represent Minus18 and LGBTIQ youth at outreach events, functions and meetings. 
  9. Other tasks as directed by the CEO, and taking on additional responsibilities during their absence.

 

Key Selection Criteria 

  1. Tertiary qualifications in business, marketing, or other related discipline.
  2. Demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales, marketing and/or public relations where you have been responsible for income generation.
  3. Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing small teams, effective communication and supervision.
  4. Demonstrated experience in business planning, including budget development and forecasting.
  5. Big ideas and strategies for growing the income and visibility of the organisation.
  6. Lived experience and strong understanding of diverse identities within the LGBTIQ community.
  7. Live and breathe social justice and a demonstrated passion for social change.

 

Requirements 

The chosen candidate will need to successfully complete a Working with Children Check and a successful Police Background Check.
