Bexx is a Maori/Ghanian woman. She has recently been brought on board with the Minus18 team to produce events for those who identify as queer as well as POC (people of colour) under the age of 18.
Being part of the QTIPOC community, she found lack of representation of people in her community, so urged her to create spaces and connections in any possible way. This lead her to co-found a number of collectives both here (ALTERITY X) and in Aotearoa (BOX oceania). The collectives promoted club nights, workshops and day events to include those who either identify as takatapui (queer), but under the umbrella of POC. Majority of events were fundraisers for local/international organisations on the brink of closure due to lack of funds.
Bexx’s roles over the years have included curating an exhibition, facilitating workshops/discussions, conferences, Artist liaison, panel member, stage manager and mentor.
Currently she is also apart of an organisation called LISTEN which is a music based collective aiming at the lack of representation for female/GNC/POC line ups in Australian music.
In her spare time she works with digital media (visuals for events, music video clips, promo content) as well as connect with other organisations whose ethos resonates with her.
Bexx's passion is working with the rangatahi (youth) and ensuring they have connection with their true selves, whilst having fun at the same time.
