Blake Connell


Blake holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Diploma of Languages (French) and a Juris Doctor from the University of Melbourne. He is a solicitor at global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills working with clients across the technology, media and telecommunications sectors. In this role, he works on large-scale procurement contracts and cross border deals. Blake has a particular focus on helping clients find technology-based solutions to their legal problems.  

Blake is also co-chair of his office’s pride network, a position which gives him the precious opportunity to shape policy around LGBTIQA+ inclusion. As the proud National Mentoring Coordinator for not-for-profit Out For Australia, Blake runs a national mentoring program which pairs LGBTIQA+ students and aspiring professionals with established mentors in their chosen field. 

Blake is passionate about reducing the barriers for LGBTIQA+ people through targeted, impactful advocacy and programs.
