November 11, 2022

Furthering our strategic commitment to elevating and amplifying trans, gender diverse, and non-binary voices, Minus18 has extended its TGDNB Creators Fund into 2022-2023.

And in a super exciting addition to this commitment, we’ve joined forces with our long-time supporters and friends at Levi’s to level-up our support of TGDNB creatives across the year!

The first year of our TGDNB Creators Fund launched in November 2021, in honour of Trans Awareness Week. Over that year, eight performers and one artist, across seven events or campaign activations, were paid as recipients of the fund – over and above our existing strategic priority to book trans performers and elevate trans voices. By the year’s close, over 45% of performers at youth events identified as trans, gender diverse, or non-binary.

Which is why we’re so excited to be extending the fund for another year with the support of our long-time supporters at Levi’s.

In fact, we’re happy to announce that the fund is even bigger in size and scope: $7,000 is available within the fund, to pay a minimum of 10 creators over the next year.

Who can apply?

  • People who identify as trans, gender diverse or non binary
  • People aged 18 - 30
  • Located across so-called Australia (digital and in-person engagements available)
  • Performers, speakers, artists and facilitators

How will fund recipients be selected?

Recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Folks who are age and location appropriate
  • Those whose act or work is relevant for youth audiences
  • Intersectionality and lived experience will be prioritised
  • Emerging acts will also be prioritised

Anything else to know?

  • Fund recipients will be notified throughout the year as event opportunities arise.
  • Funding will be allocated based on the scope of each individual opportunity and final fees will be negotiated and confirmed with fund recipients. They will range between $200 and $1000.

Remember, this fund exists to pay and amplify emerging TGDNB creatives in addition to the TGDNB artists, performers and musicians we’ll already be booking throughout the year. If you’re a trans, gender diverse, or non-binary performer or creative, we’d love to hear from you – whether you end up being a fund recipient or booked via another Minus18 avenue.
