Fun fact: Minus18 doesn't actually receive a huge amount of funding from the government. That sort of autonomy is a great benefit in many ways, but it also means we have to be fairly self-sufficient. And it's with campaigns and initiatives like our Pride Coffee Cups that we're able to do so.

Pleasingly, these little cups have had a big impact.

First things first: by sitting pretty at a cafe, these little coffee cups immediately signal to the LGBTIQ+ community that the cafe supports them. To us, that's already a takeaway worth celebrating. But our rainbow pride coffee cups do much more than raise awareness and show support. The fundraising they do allow us to deliver our many tangible initiatives that strengthen and celebrate queer youth.

In fact: collectively, more than $25,000 has been raised by these pride coffee cups in the last nine months. Not bad, right?

IDAHOBIT and beyond

Our friends at 30kerr65 did an amazing job activating their cafe during IDAHOBIT in 2019, raising over $250 while selling Pride Coffee Cups.

In the lead-up to Wear it Purple Day, we're expecting another surge of interest in stocking Minus18 Pride Coffee Cups in order to fundraise. If you're interested, move quickly!

And if you work in an office rather than running a cafe? Easy. Order a pack of 100 cups to show your support during a morning tea on Wear it Purple Day, or grab some for your next pride group event. 100% of proceeds go straight to supporting LGBTIQ+ youth, so you're making a difference as soon as you purchase.

Pride at university

During Pride Week, we saw cafes across the various RMIT University campuses activate with fundraising and Pride Coffee Cups. Thank you Little Bang, Pearson & Muprhy and For the People Cafe!

Spreading the love

One of our newest additions to the Pride Coffee Cups family is Cafe Moto on the Morning Peninsula. The owners of the beloved cafe and motoring enthusiast destination are the parents of a Queer Formal attendee and were inspired to fundraise during IDAHOBIT as a result. Thank you team!

And a particular shout-out to our friends at ST. ALi. They're stocking our cups, as well as donating proceeds from their new "Feels Good" coffee to Queer Formal. So far? They've helped us out with a casual**$10,000**going towards Queer Formal. AND they're selling our stickers. How amazing is that?

I'm ready for a coffee now. Where can I find Minus18 pride coffee cups?

Currently, you can find a rainbow coffee cup at 30kerr65 (Fitzroy), Barberesso (Prahran), Andy's Remedy (Footscray), Bomb Cafe (Abbotsford), Rydges on Swanston (Carlton), Little Bang (RMIT City Campus), Pearson & Murphy (RMIT City Campus), Cafe Moto (Mornington Peninsula) and ST ALi (South Melbourne).

Stay in the loop

Minus18 is located on the land of the Yalakut Weelam Clan of the Boon Wurrung peoples, Australia’s First People and Traditional Custodians. We acknowledge their continued connection and contribution to land, water and community, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded; this always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
